Western Governors voice support for the Essential Air Service and Small Community Air Service Development Programs

In correspondence with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Aviation, Western Governors shared bipartisan policy recommendations related to air service for rural communities. In particular, the letter of June 9, signed by WGA Executive Director Jack Waldorf, called for maintaining the Essential Air Service and Small Community Air Service Development Programs. “Air service is critical not only for recreation and tourism, but also for many remote communities, it provides the only efficient way to bring in critical personnel, such as doctors or emergency services,” WGA Policy Resolution 2024-06, Transportation Infrastructure in the Western United States, reads. “Western Governors support legislative actions to secure and maintain the longevity of these programs.” Read the full correspondence for more information.
